The occurrence was so heartbreaking and breathtaking it is hard to even think about it but it should not be political at all. It’s societal and our society needs to find a way to correct the mental illness and health problems that are causing this type of terrible incident.
To say that we have thoughts and prayers for all involved in this tragedy goes without saying.
I pity non believers.

one solution to bullying is for the victims to sue their tormentors for intentional infliction of emotional distress ...
let some kids and their parents be saddled with $100K worth of debt and see how fast the bullying will stop

I know all to qell bullying works. The bullied kids get no relief and then when they get tired of being bullied and beat the ever loving shit out of some pretty boy teachers pet they are labeled "troublemakers" or "troubled" and are punished more than the bully who made their life hell. I always swore if your child is bullying mine you get one chance as his parents and school admin to handle it before I do. And part of my handling it is going t be to whopp your ass so bad your kids understand that their actions have consequences that reach far beyond even your safety.
My oldest son who legitimately was "troubled" told me he was being bullied and threatened. Thr old wait till school was out threat. I told him you should have done one of two things. Asked him why wait or just punched him in the throat because he ain't gonna do shit if his intentions were to wait but get all his friends together. So the next day kid starts up and my son walked out of class at the end of the class turned at the door and waited for him to walk out. As soon as he walked out the door my son layed him out. It was beautiful. Could not have landed a better lick. Unfortunately he did it right under the camera 🙄
So the police came and it went down hill from there.
Last year my daughter was in kindergarten and had a vile mouthed ghetto all star that would not leave her alone. She has some delays with her speech and is very timid. This little asshole cussed the teachers and spit on them. He spit on my daughter and I went to the school and told him I if he so much as looked at her again I would put a belt on his ass then his parents assess. The teacher said it was the first time she'd heard him utter yes sir in her life. I stood next to his parents on several occasions and they ever had anything g to say. And he never even looked crosswalk at my daughter again so I'll consider it a win. There are people who's only reason for still being able to eat solid food is my fear of losing my job. But if you fuck wth my kids all bets are off. Period.

I've told my story many times, and I'm proud of it. I made friends with the bullies. I'm the spoiled rich kid who befriended the locals. Legit, real locals. My bad attitude was learned the hard way. I paid it forward. I'm sure my close friends here will vouch for me. There is never a cause for violence at our age, being young is different. Please impart your wisdom to him. If not, tell him to call me.

Always told my kids if you know the shits gonna go down you might as well get off first. School fights usually last about 15 seconds and always end up on the ground. This whole UFC shit is BS.

I'm still waiting for Kameltoe to call for more gun restrictions in response to this mass shooting. I suppose her advisers decided it might remind voters which party wants to infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens to the means of self defense. Fuck them kids, right? No, fuck those tyrants who use any incident to justify their desire to render helpless the entire population of law abiding citizens. Sick fucks are gonna keep on doing sick fuck shit no matter what. There are any number of mass casualty attacks that have occurred around the world in spite of strict gun laws that disarm the common man, Bataclan Theatre comes to mind. But your tyrant party wants more power over the people so... gun control, censorship, all while flooding the country with criminals, terrorists, spies... and failing to keep violent criminals in prison... oh, and trying to defund the police. What could possibly go wrong? Way to go, democrats.

Someone’s head is mush. God help him. No, God help the school kids getting shot up on a regular basis here in the good 'ol USA. I'm not worried about the rest of the world. We're supposed to be the civilized ones. If this country can't get it's head out of it's ass regarding gun safety we're going to have much bigger problems down the road.

But the US is screwed. Gun violence will never improve in the US of A. The truth is these school shootings have become normalised for too many people. Bad guys use and abuse firearms, good guys believe they need them to protect themselves from the bad guys. Politicians are too afraid to impose any meaningful restrictions as they know they'll risk getting elected if they suggest this. They also know that if they tried to take peoples guns from them they'd be a civil war and many would die... Nothing will change in our life time.

And one sides refusal to 1 admit there is a problem and 2 be part of the conversation is what's going to lead to excessive restrictions. When the gun of choice for mobsters and gangsters was outlawed (Tommy gun) I can only wonder if the outcry then was for the 2nd amendment rights? Understand I am not a gun grabber but the refusal to address it in any meaningful way will result in the levee being breached and we'll be flooded with new very restrictive and oppressive laws. It's one reason I'm pretty reserved about talking about what and how many I own to anybody and especially online.

Have you ever considered that it may be "our society" that is the cause of these problems? Problems that are almost exclusively American, mind you.
Or do your "beliefs" get in the way of that potential realization?

Mental illness and big pharma are present in every first world country in the world. Yet none have the problem we have.
Why do you think that might be?

Because we have a Constitution???

I know it may come as a surprise, but plenty of countries have constitutions.
Keep going though; you're getting warm.

Because the US takes the most pharmaceutical drugs per captia?

Now normalize violence for pharma drugs and what are you left with?
A still uniquely American problem...and the pharma trail going cold.
Please try again.

Because the United States has one of the highest mental health disease burdens among high-income countries?

Part of the problem, but again, if you normalize it doesn't explain it.
What's unique about the USA?
I can think of two interrelated things, and, while I have doubts about the acuity of many here, I am sure you can too.
