Sheesh.....you guys are tough today....
Is not the how of it, the actual practice, the questions you ask, or don't, for whatever reason.... isn't all that part of making the scientific method function?
Not so sure that the history of "science" can be disjuncted from the conditions allowing intellectual inquiry in a society.
Test, observe, quantify, calculate...repeat....and repeat....yet.... without the component allowing free inquiry and the asking of hard question....and the challenging of what's currently a consensus....it will often fail.
Joined at the hip in practice...

Then your meme is broken, because by analogy, neither philosophy or theology is looking for the cat. You’re saying that science, philosophy, and religion are looking for the same thing, whatever that “thing” is. Science would claim it is not. So however you define the cat, its a completely different cat in a different room than philosophy and religion. If they are all actually looking for the same cat, you’re admitting science to be a spiritual seeking of truth, which makes it a religion. |
