Mr. Bacon. Get your ass out of there. I had friends in Mexico Beach who said the same things as you. Been there done that, no problem. Then Michaël came ashore. I got there 4 days later. My first thought, seeing the devastation, was that this was like entering a Vietnam village after an artillery attack. They had a way out after clearing the roads but it took them 48 hours to do so. There is no way off an island. You can do a lot more good for your friends and neighbors by being on the mainland, hiring a a boat for the return trip and load it with food, water, fuel, ice and medical supplies. Don't be a victim. Get your wits about you and do good things. I'm not leaving my neighbors. We have more people here, on the island, than the boats can carry. Elderly people. I'm not leaving them. I can't even type I'm crying so hard. I'm not leaving these people alone

As I said we have about 24 hours. There are no more boats. I will survive. A bunch of other people may not.

If you are staying, you better hope it keeps turning north between now and Thursday night early Friday morning.
Tomorrow it will pass over Jamaica and hit near you sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

David, Just saw on the weather station that the hurricane just reached Cat 5 with 160mph winds. Please get to a safe location quickly. Although I don’t know you and will probably never meet you I, and most probably many others, value your presence and internet friendship. Be safe brother! Thank you so much. I'm so torn right now as to what to do. I am fiercely loyal to all my neighbors. I can't just leave them . We literally have to go now. There will not be a way off the island. Stay safe. I hope the island you live on is spared a lot of damage from the storm.

I would not want to be in Jamaica, that island is going to get hit bad by a Cat 5. May not be much left when the hurricane gets finished with it.

I think you may be right about Kingston and southern Jamaica. The north side of Jamaica will be protected by the Blue mountains and I think they will be spared CAT 5 conditions. I lived in Kingston for a year. The infrastructure there is not up to par for a storm like this.

As I mentioned, I'm way more worried about my neighbors please , please ,, be sure to stockpile plenty of rum in a secure location. being without power and basic needs is a lot easier with a few gallons of zacappa stashed away. good luck

Cook and eat everything in the freezer or refrigerator tonight. Invite everybody over. Who knows how long your power will be out.
