Gotchya! When I put new 130's on my old Grady I started averaging 2.1-2.2. If I ran it hard 1.6-17). With my fuel capacity (145 gallons or 190 w/ a tank switch) a but 100 mile trip like the Grounds or the Elbow was easily doable. I didn't have a hard time insuring it I just decided that I would self insure it. Wish I never sold her. Those 2 strokes I was lucky to get 1 mpg. Reel Stamas had the exact same boat. His dad bought it at the Miami boat show in 89 if I'm not mistaken bought the hull and towed it home slapped 200 Johnsons on it. They were so thirsty he added 2 25 gal saddle tanks to make the long trips. He ran Honda 225s on his for ~20 years before the corrosion got to them. Heavy pigs. Only way I'd get rid of this one would be for a 94 or up 290 Express (the old 288 libery hull) which is the next step up from mine. I saw a liberty for sale a couple of years ago and I really considered buying it at the price. Already had 4 stroke power. My only complaint is I wish I had more beam Before I repowered I had yammie 2 strokes. Average 1.5 at best. Replaced them when I the blew the head on the starboard motor.

I have an '81 Anacapri 27' which I've rebuilt a couple of times. It's a heavy hull with 180 gal of fuel and a 60 gal livewell. That's over 1000# of weight to begin with. I replaced a pair of 150 2 strokes which gave me 1.5 mpg with a pair of 150 4 strokes and I get 2.1 mpg @ 4300 r's which is 35 mph. The new 4 strokes are a little bit heavier, but are badass. I can go a long way on 180 gal of fuel fully loaded with gear, people, ice, etc. Chose the 150's over the 200's when I looked at the performance comparison of the 150's vs the 200's. Also a pretty big price differential. Up to 4200 rpm's speed and mileage are about the same. Going faster and burning more fuel doesn't impress me.

Great solid boat.
