I have 230,000 miles on my 2004 3500 Ram. Cummins diesel is purring along. Never anything but Rotella oil changed around every 3000 miles. Doesn’t use a drop of oil. Drove 500 miles the other day. It got just under 26 mpg. Dodge has a problem with the TIPM corroding that causes some electrical problems. I had a rebuilt TIPM unit and fuse panel installed a while ago. Anything that could be electrical and seem “mysterious” I would have the TIPM checked. Good luck Probably one of the best trucks Dodge ever built. Their diesels are great trucks but not so much with their gas ones.

It’s a dually with stock 17” tires. Mostly about 65-70 mph. It has Cummins power but I believe it’s equipped with a stock chip not a power chip. I believe it has about a 383 rear end. 2 wheel drive. I don’t off road so 4wd is just one more thing to go wrong. I think great mileage with this engine is the norm but my vehicle may be exceptionally good. I remember about 150,000 miles it suddenly started getting a little better mileage. I asked a Cummins factory mechanic why. He told me that it just broke in. I hope to never own another diesel other than a Cummins. I’m totally impressed by how well it runs. If I recall Cummins makes badass marine diesel engines that are extremely efficient. Congrats on the truck. My 250 gasser with 35’s gets 16mph at 63-65 mph

I watched as all of the 10 year old Chrysler products came in with their bodies rusting off. So when I bought this truck I had the best undercoat available done on it. It needs inner and outer rocker panels but other than that it’s pretty solid. I intend to have it restored by a body shop and have the drivers seat reupholstered ( my fat ass has worn it out) and drive it until I die. I am shopping for another one for my woman to drive. She loves big trucks ( drives an Silverado dually now that is about 26’ long) and for putting up with me she deserves anything she wants. Chrysler had one good gas motor. That old slant 6 was a wonderful engine. They ran forever.

Which transfer case? The Borg Warner 44-44 (which has 4Auto) or the 44-45? I am going there next Tuesday, which part do you need?

That's a lot of (enjoyable) miles, Johnny!
Mye Tahoe is about to hit 200k. It's a 2005 and is in semi-retirement now -- the GF uses it mostly as a work truck. The F250 is just over 37k miles. It's a 2020. It is now my primary vehicle but most of its miles are towing the RV. Both are maintained regularly have been superb. Is it a diesel? If so keep a close eye on the regen system.

All of the diesels have DEF issues. Not 1 single manufacturer has been able to get rid of that headache. Its the number 1 repair on them. The best repair is too delete it lol

I work from home most days...
I do have some business trips to Miami, Jacksonville, etc. But if it is farther than that, I usually fly....
My truck is at 99,700 miles... MOST of that is play miles.
I have run it hard, off road every week.... Been on marathon road trips to hang out with bears, eagles, Caracaras etc.
I meticulously maintain it. Best oil, best filters, etc. Do services before they are due. Every bit of maintenance has been done at the same shop. I have known the owner most of my life.
But I have worked it hard.....
Saying all that, I have my first repair issue... The truck has never seen the dealership since the day I bought it.
Now my Service 4 Wheel Drive System warning light is on. Nothing wants to happen when I hit the buttons for any of the 4 Wheel Drive Modes or the Differential Locks.
I can tinker with it and make it go into 4 wheel drive. And it will work. No grinding, no strange noises.... Everything on the Interweb suggests it is a sensor, connection, or possibly the 4wd control panel on the dash..etc rather than damage to the transfer case, differentials etc....
So I am going to drop it at the Dealership in the morning. It will be the first time the truck has been back to the dealership since the day I bought it.
Still I think right at 100k without a non maintenance repair is pretty good..... Especially the way I drive and the places I go.
We have seen issues with Transfer case position sensors and the 4 wheel drive control module. Its plug and play no reprogramming needed. Both straight forward repairs. Seems to be the Actuator........ Should be repaired first of the week.
