Nevermind the dog breath. I do love dogs. They do want to lick a wound (yours or theirs) and never seem to get infected themselves.

Dogs mouths are full of bacteria, not the best for healing. Change its diet for hot spots

First issue, do not let the dog constantly lick the hot spot. Take the dog to the vet and get some medicine for it. some licking can help, but constant licking will make it worse. the dog licks it to relieve the pain it feels from the spot.
About the question of antibodies in dog saliva, yes the dog's saliva does have anti-bacterial properties. There are fewer germs in a dog's mouth than in a human's. There are places where the people let dogs lick cuts and it seems to help with healing. JohnnyBandit and I had a discussion about this on the old forum and I am sure he will be along to explain it better than I and tell you the benefits of dog saliva.
I am not convinced it is wise to let a dog lick a cut. While the dog's mouth has less germs, it is different germs and I doubt the anti-bacterial properties work better than antibiotic ointment.

They lick wounds constantly.
No healing benefit to dog slobber, they lick a lot and it keeps fresh blood flowing to wound; that's how it heals quicker...

It must be 50 or 60 years ago that I read a book by Sally Carrighar called, "Sex Life of the Animals."
There was a chapter on parasites with detail on dog parasites that made a huge impression on me. I've never let a dog lick my face since and I nearly gag whenever I see someone else allowing it.
That's in addition to their licking their butts and other dogs (and creatures) feces.

Just rub your leg on the inside of a dumpster for better results.

Constant licking of the ass could be impacted anal glands. My girl hound has this issue off and on. Higher fiber diet Will lead to better bowel movements forcing the glands to open. Boiled sweet potatoes have helped.

Had a friend that swore by the healing power of a dog licking a wound. Saw him do it many times. No bad results. He lived to nearly 90. Seldom went to the doctor.

I love my lab, and she does go like a bullet to any cut on my legs, but that is not a good plan. She also uses that mouth to eat rabbit crap, lick her butt, and who knows what else.

If a dog lick causes you to lose all your limbs and almost die, you probably should have been culled years ago.

Dog saliva does in fact have anti bacterial properties. (human saliva does as well but the anti bacteria properties in canines is stronger than in humans)
Dog saliva has properties that can kill e coli and staph infection.
There have been tons of studies on dog saliva..... It has been found that dog saliva contains various proteins, antimicrobial enzymes, and peptides that make holes in bacterial cell membranes. Dog Saliva also contain histatins which are known to speed the healing of wounds in mammals.
Ever watch a female dog with puppies. She is constantly licking the puppies. With a lot of care given to the umbilical cord area.... I have been around hundreds of litters in my life.... I never remember a puppy that got an infection of the umbilical cord. The only issue I can remember with puppies and the umbilical cord is when the bitch bites it off too short...
Since ancient times dog saliva has been used as a healing agent.... There is a french term that translates to "A dogs Tongue, a Doctors tongue...
And yes... Dogs lick their own assholes, eat rotten shit, drink from nasty, infested mud puddles.... And largely... A healthy dog..... Will rarely if ever get sick....
Frankly I do not think Modern Medicine or science is going to tell you anytime soon...That it is okay for you to have your dogs lick your wounds..... But an awful lot of research dollars are going into Dog Saliva studies.... Trying to isolate the healing and antimicrobial compounds. There is even research being done with dog saliva in treating certain kinds of cancer....
Does dog saliva right out of their mouths really help your ward off infection on a wounds..... Cad may be right..... A good anti bacterial ointment may be just as good... Could be better....
But I grew up with a great grandmaw that swore it was a miracle cure.. IF you got a cut, she was going to find a dog to lick the cut.... And since she raised my Grandfather and my Dad grew up around us, it was ingrained in all of us.... Does it work better than Neosporin or polysporin? I cannot say... But it seems to work pretty well..... I still do it...
And I have noticed something else..... I have ITP. An auto immune disorder in which my immune system attacks my blood platelets as if they are a virus....... Things have been okay for a couple of years, until my recent Double influenza (I had both A and B) pneumonia and Sepsis issue which landed me in the hospital... Now my immune system is attacking my platelets aggressively again... Back on steroids, etc. But aside from that.... If I cut, scrape etc myself... Since around 2016.... And even when things have been more normalized since 2021 until recently.... It is difficult to get a cut to stop bleeding. At one point if I cut myself shaving, I could have ended up in the hospital... Which is why I brought back the Don Johnson Miami Vice Look..... A razor has touched my face in over 8 years... I just trim it close with electric clippers.
I have all sorts of clotting agents... QuickClot etc... Celox (which is used on battlefields and trauma units) etc.... But I noticed something.... IF I get a cut or a scrape or a deep scratch... I am prone to do all of them.... If I have one of my dogs lick the wound...It is quicker (probably not quicker than Celox...I have Celox Gauze and granules. But I have never used it... Supposedly painful to use and life or death) But the other stuff....

I grew up believing the dogs had healing power in their licking a fresh wound. There were also dogs pretty much everywhere we went, and it was an accepted fact when you got out of the car at a house, the yard dog was going to inspect you up close and maybe lick a fresh cut. Folks mostly kept a guard dog put up. Today I don’t go looking for a dog, but I don’t come unglued if one takes a lick on my wound. I still keep a small bottle of live leeches for when I’m hunting with TRT.

Dogs are a good way to get H. Pylori.

Dogs are a good way to get H. Pylori. The zoonotic risk of catching H. Pylori from an animal, while possible is almost nil.... And canines tend to have a strong resistance to most strains of H. Pylori. The most common strain of H Pylori that humans get, is largely non existent in dogs and most other small animals.
The most common way people get H. Pylori is direct saliva contact from another human. And there is really no way to know if the person you are swapping spit with has it. Because in a significant number of humans that have H Pylori there are no symptoms and it causes them no issues... Only a small percentage of humans that get H. Pylori get peptic ulcers or other gastric ailments.
