Amazing that people are still arguing about the response to this disease. A totally new virus strain (whether manmade or not) attacked the world. China included. And the response was based on the best information at the time - which was very little. It's easy to be a Monday morning QB, but people in charge did what they thought best for the majority of the population. We all have to make decisions regarding our existence daily and sometimes we're right, and other times not so much. We have a governing body in this country elected to serve us the electorate in the best fashion they can. If there is blame to be passed around it would have to be placed squarely on the political leadership that YOU the voter elected to LEAD. Hindsight is 20 x 20 vision. Enter into the equation Big Pharma who saw huge profits from new medications - worldwide and the possibility of influencing our politicians to help them sell drugs at inflated prices couched as patriotic duty and there you are. I don't know the truth and don't think anyone else on this forum does either, but when my medical worker friends relate their real time experiences dealing with patients sick with Covid 19, I have no choice but to do what my doctor recommends. As to who or what is at fault, if it is China what is the rest of the world going to do about it? That's what I thought. Nothing. Now that the virus is basically resolved don't we think there are other issues a little more pressing? Last, hindsight is 20x20 vision. The fault lies 100% on the cowards who folded. The cowards who echoed bad information for political reasons. The cowards who watched their friends and family die while offering no help. It's sad really. It's a shame what has become of our wisest citizens. |

It was an unknown virus and people were dying and many were having to be hospitalized. If we had not reacted, the hospitals could have been overrun and the death toll would have been higher. Masks were better than nothing, but most people wore them incorrectly or only part of the time. But it helped. Distancing people and avoiding large crowds helped. Everything in the beginning was to be sure we did not overload hospitals. Did some states go overboard, maybe, but that is easy to claim after the event. Were mistakes made, sure they were. But, it was in the interest of trying to save live dealing with an unknown virus. The vaccine worked whether you call it a vaccine or a therapeutic. It kept people out of the hospital and kept people from dying from the virus. Did it have side affects for a small minority, yes, but those side effects were the same you would get if you caught the virus and the side affects from catching the virus were worse. But for 99% of the people the vaccine was safe and effective. I know you are going to believe your conspiracy bullshit no matter what the facts say. But the fact is, while mistakes were made, lives were saved. My fear is people like you, the next time a deadlier virus comes around, will push harder to ignore it and it will cause many more people to die. If this was some "Chinese plot" it worked. It has many of you convinced that these viruses are nothing to worry about, so when they release the killer one, the reaction will not be to close down and isolate people to protect others, but let it run its course as it kills everyone. Maybe it was a test run to get us divided and lower our defenses against such a viral attack. |
