10 years ago… ebay, craigslist, classified worked fine. Then auctions or assbook. Everything now is scams and robbery. I’m about to have the best $1 table in garage sale history! I’m betting I’ll come out as well as I can.( time is money too) Anyone suggest an option?

sell it all to someone with a flea market booth ... or get a booth yourself.

I still use ebay. Worldwide/Nationwide audiance. Do they rip you off? Sure 13% is a lot of loss but it still allows you to sell without leaving your home except to mail the items or pick up shipping supplies. Since I don't hard core fish anymore, Ive sold over 2K worth of fishing and other stuff in the last two months. I don't do craigslist as I prefer to not having people come to my home.

Probably paid 10k for all of it back in the 80's. Wife wont let me get rid of it for less then we paid. I'll be checking back for help.

Some on ebay, some on craigslist and some on FB......actually sold a Penn 5500 SS this afternoon to a FB person. I agree with not letting anyone come to the house.....or even know where it is. Just meet them at the Publix when it's convenient FOR ME. If I can get 50-60% of what is listed for a similar item on ebay in the "SOLD" section then I feel good about it. Same boat on the fishing equipment. Been working through it for about 5-6 years now. Down to about 60 rods, maybe a few more. Need to get down to the 20-30 that actually get used.

I thought you got stuff at yard sales and such. Not like you are taid firing the ads around here.

Oil for the trucks, other hydrocarbons for use in the drip torches, grease and any other things like that that we use a good bit of. Same with towels for rags and whatever other useful stuff that we have to buy anyway. That's what we focus on at garage sales.......and because of that it's the moving sales where folks are clearing out the garage and the yard shed of chemicals and the like that are the best. Not that I've have not bought more than a rod or two at a garage sale over the years.......and a lot of clothes.......but the stuff we've been working through is both our accumulation and a good bit my father and two grandfathers left us.......they've all been gone a good 30 years now. And they all fished and hunted. The deals are in the things we use.

Bswiv, I'll still take the rods if you'll ship. I apologize......I forgot all about that. I did check the shipping and it was more than the $30 for the rods.

For small easy to ship items, I use Ebay and EBid. EBid is like Ebay, just a smaller audience and lower fees. EBay is best due to the large audience. Ihave done large items, pickup only on EBay, but Facebook is pretty good.
For larger items, Facebook first then Craigslist as last resort.
I have not had an issue with scammers in EBay or Ebid. Facebook has the guys trying to get your account info by asking for a code. Just ignore them. Craigslist is the worst for scammers, but it depends on the item. Some items get scammers, some don't.
I'm getting ready to sell some coins on Ebay. They will ship registered mail, insured, signature required to avoid being scammed. If it is over $200 use signature required shipping.

I like FB, I had some problems with Ebay and Paypal frauds, they eventually straightened it out but it was a mess. Now its face to face and show me the green bills. But before we meet I am going to have checked you out pretty carefully.
