Ruger Mark IV lite with optic for pure accuracy. Colt Gold Cup 45acp super accurate as well.

My Thompson Center Contender with a 10” 22lr barrel has both great target accuracy and it also translates into great practical accuracy in the field with a red dot sight. I have a 10” 357 magnum barrel that is just as good, but it only gets put on for certain occasions. The two barrels share the same red dot because by some miracle there is no need for adjustment between the two. So I get all my practice with the 22 and then I fully confident carrying the 357- just gotta make sure I have my ear protection.

I'm most accurate with my Sig 226 with the 9mm barrel and iron sights.
My next handgun will have a red-dot. Shot one that a friend owns and outdid my own gun with it

My .22 LR Ruger MK IV target with red dot is tack driver accurate - if you shoot at the range it's sighted in for. It does well with the iron sights, too, but my eyes are the limiting factor there.
The red dot sits quite high above the line of sight, so, sighted in at closer ranges - ~10 yds +/- - the bullet is traveling up to the line of sight.
If you shoot at 7 yds, the bullet will hit quite low and over 10 yds it will be high; the farther out you're shooting, the higher the point of impact will be.
I don't shoot the pistols - any of them - at longer ranges, so finally took the red dot off the Mk IV. For real accuracy with it, your range estimation must be spot on - and I'm not that good.
The red dot would be excellent for medium ranges....for long range rifle shooting, I've got the scope.
