Inflated pricing, interest rates, and building pieces of shit that can't go 20k without blowing up is killing the auto industry. Even toyota a worldwide brand known for durability is having a problem building engines that stay together. This fall is gonna be a blood bath in car sales. Hell dealerships still have 23 models on the lots and 25s are due. How China’s tech-forward EVs are dominating the industry
I said earlier, China is eating the US big three for lunch. And yes, EVs or some combination thereof, is the near future, possible coupled with H, is the future.

I saw previously as in old news that ceo of Ford, Jim Farley had split Ford in 3 divisions, with the profit making truck division supporting the profit loosing ev division. So honestly I'm not really surprised by the shift of wanting to go back to profit to recoup losses. The 6.7 diesel engines are made in Mexico, and super duty plant is in Kentucky. Now how the uaw demands played into it I don't know. I did see where Farley took a long trip towing something in a f 150 lightning.
I haven't been keeping up with it. The covid shortages of chips and modules hurt a bit as there were huge lots of trucks parked waiting to have modules installed. Then parts were a nightmare as most were diverted to new builds. I don't know how much that has improved. EV will come when it becomes economically viable in energy density but having the government force the market and manufactures is not the way. It's a expensive lesson for Ford. You can't replace something if the replacement does not have the same specs. I do see promise for some electric f 150 and transit vans, but the 250 and above will be a lot harder to achieve as there is no equal replacement for specs.
How the California requirements for drayage trucks moving goods from ports plays out I don't think will be as envisioned. Class 8 electric trucks that are twice as expensive but carry half the freight as ice trucks seems foolish. So yes there was a run on those trucks before it came in, I think the ice trucks are limited to 800k miles until a certain year then All required to be zero emission. So I expect to see cost increases on goods coming in to west coast ports.
For simple grocery getters and people movers and urban delivery that's far easier to solve.
As far as zero net emissions you need to look at mining,, materials, processing, production, and use as a total for comparison. Otherwise you are just shifting things around to meet a predetermined outcome.
This is not to say I disagree with the idea of ev and alternative fuels. But there is a lot of ice out there and will be for a long time. So alternative fuels that are economically viable and backward compatible to support them would achieve a huge step.

China is leading the world alright..... by building more COAL POWER PLANTS than any other country. They laugh at you..as the full fill your federally mandated dreams. Oh yea, you dont own one.
