Why are you so frightened of war? It seems like you would define foreign policy based upon fear of our enemies and what they threaten to do. You would yield to bullies out of fear of getting a bloody nose. That’s not how America should roll.

Most Americans could not find Ukraine on a map. Going to nuclear war over a non NATO country is dumb IMO. Bullies are going to bully. One needs to know what fight is worthy of fighting. Nukes in Cuba pointing at us was worth that fight. Eastern Ukraine is not.

Nukes in Cuba pointing at us was worth that fight. Eastern Ukraine is not. If you yield to their nuclear blackmail once, they’ll use it again. Predators, bullies, and criminals, all of which the Russians are, operate on simple mindsets. They do what they can get away with and once they learn a tactic works, they’ll use it continuously. Don’t fear Russia’s nukes. Fear Russia gaining control of a sizable portion of the world’s food supply by taking Ukraine, and then reforming its empire in Eastern Europe then being allowed to rebuild its depleted war machine in the years following the conquests. Shove Russia’s nukes back up their child-raping rumps. We can do it. If we lose a few blue cities in the process…. oh well. Sounds like a win-win😉. I’m only being facetious with the last sentence. I am fully convinced we can handle Russia’s nukes with only some American causalities. War, like life in general, requires hard things sometimes. Pain and suffering are not things to be avoided at all costs. That’s the coward’s way. The person who fears death because they think this tiny life is all there is, holds onto to it with everything they have, not being able to cope with the fact they won’t be able to keep it no matter what. So go punch the bully instead of cowering. You may find that they fold on the first hit. And if they don’t and give it back to you harder than you did them, be proud to die free standing up to scum instead if cowering like a slave afraid to be whipped. Beating Russia is a war will require we toughen up and not shrink from designating all Russians as the enemy by virtue of their status as Russians. It would require overwhelming use of nukes and other major weapons on all military targets so as to overwhelmingly destroy their capabilities to hit the US. Major losses to Russian civilians will have to be accepted. And I don’t think the West has that level of brutality anymore. But I promise your China and Russia does. We hold ourselves back out of morality. While they only are restrained by fear of us. If they ever think they could hit us first and annihilate us without retaliation, they will. While we probably have had the chance to do it to them over the decades and won’t because we’re too either “good” or “soft.”

I guess I’m the only one here who remembers that little incident called the “Cold War”? Russia, formerly the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics owned Ukraine lock stock and barrel. And apparently no one seemed to have a problem with it? Now we are seemingly aching to get into a shooting war with Russia at any cost. While at the same time our military is in shambles, recruiting is an all time low, munition stockpiles are depleted, most of our aircraft are are down for parts and maintenance. The navy has the same problem with its ships but, the left is doing all it can to ferment a large scale war? We are demanding a ceasefire for Israel but any talk of a ceasefire for Russia/Ukraine is completely off the table.

That has never happened in my life, in fact, just the opposite. I do not want a global world war because Russia wants some of the Soviet land back. Sending another 60 billion with no definition of success is stupid. In 6 months they will be begging for another 60 billion and again and again. Our deficit and future global economic standing should not be risked sending "we will be there as long as it takes" money. We cannot just keep printing money and giving it away to foreign countries without any benefit to the US taxpayer. Russia will not take over all of Europe if Ukraine loses. It won't happen because then it is a war with NATO. If Russia invades a NATO country we should stand by our NATO agreement and not let them take one inch. That is not the case with Ukraine.

I wasn’t specifically thinking of you. Usually I’m thinking of luapnor as the punching bag for being the inconsistent isolationist, where he perceives “empire” as bad, unless its Russia, who’s allowed to be as aggressive as they want. I do think the bully analogy is accurate though as to what the practical effect amounts to if Russia is allowed to use nuclear blackmail to discourage the West from engaging in whatever policy Russia doesn’t want the West to implement. I think every time Russia threatens to nuke the West over support for Ukraine, Ukraine should win a new and more potent arms package. MAD is obsolete if one side is willing to push the button simply because they’re not getting their way. War planners in the US should focus all of their efforts towards winning a nuclear war with minimal American causalities. The ability to decisively defeat a nuclear-armed enemy will be the only real deterrence.

Hypersonic weapons. We better get our butts in gear. Yes. Also, long-range, stealth, aircraft or spacecraft that can hover over enemy cities and bases for days at a time undetected so that they can instantly launch without advanced warning. We could keep a constant line of them flying sorties over Russian and Chinese targets during peacetime so that if the decision to preemptively strike is made, nukes can be launched and hit their targets in seconds.

Wow! A lot of military experts here. If only we could redirect these thoughts to fixing our political morass. And all the bitching about Ukraine needing more aid mainly due to the fact that we, the west, won't let them fight a war to win. How many wars have been fought from a purely defensive posture? Red line bullshit doesn't cut it in a real war. If Ukraine bombed the shit out of major Russian cities the need for more casualties would decrease exponentially.

We enjoy this freedom thanks to the sacrifices that our citizens have made in all corners of the world.
How many Americans have died in wars. How many have died in war fighting foreign aggressors on our soil in the last 150 years?
None, because we have become involved in the stability of the world and not “buried our heads in the sand “.

Whole lotta chicken little on here lately.

Russia is the aggressor period. If we ignore their aggression against this much smaller country does anyone think it will actually end with Ukraine? Absolutely not, they are led by a psychopath that wants Russia to return to its former? ? glory? ?
Russia would roll over one small country after another until an actual WW3 would begin to stop them.
Right now we are financing the war against tyranny. Our people are not dying on the battlefield.
