I'm looking for a hunting lease next year for around $1000. Looking for something I can bring a child to also hunt. Whitetail and hogs would be great.

Thousand bucks ain't much in the Lease World. Woods and Water Mag. has membership ads for 3 Rivers and another lease up here in the Bend. You can figure about 1'500 $ if you can get on. A Grand will get you 50 acres of Pasture and 50 other hunters on it.
Let me know if you need any info on 3 rivers..hunted there yesterday.

That was a super nice reply LMAO Actually was pretty spot on. I think he was laughing because usually a new poster out of the blue asking for pie in the sky brings a stinging rebuke, not a serious answer. Its hard to know over the internet who means well and simply naive to the ways of Florida hunting vs who’s a knucklehead trying to steal a handout. Posts like “Hi, I’ll do you such a favor! Let me come hunt the hogs on your land for you. Everyone is overrun with hogs and needs help bringing them under control, right? I’m your man. I’ll do it for free! Can you believe that you are so lucky that you can have me come hunt your hogs and not charge you a dime??!! And we burst their bubbles and tell them no that’s not how it works. You pay US to hunt our hogs. If you won’t, the next guy will. And whatever you’ll pay, he’ll pay triple. Welcome to Florida.

Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. I was that naïve Florida hunter when I started out and most of us are without a mentor. For those that stick around, there is a wealth of knowledge here to be leveraged. Really comes down to your willingness to get out there and learn though. I have still yet to have anyone take me hunting; which is no problem as I've done just fine on my own and have a greater sense of accomplishment because of it.

I had a couple guys help me out down here, couple other guys took or tried to take advantage.
FL is a tough hunt for deer, hogs on a lease will be easy enough. Turkey on a lease should be easy.

Read the OP. Perhaps the guy is just looking for something cheap that he can take his kid on and introduce him to hunting. Everything doesn't always have to be complicated.

Got a real nice Cardinal hatch last spring , The house Wrens are all over the place, Squirrels by the hundreds Possums are pretty hard to hunt but for an Extra Fee we could work something out.. We used to hunt next to each other. Was in California Swamp No shit, how long ago? Do you know any of the Mills? Ronnie Mills sounds familiar. We hunted with Bill Stutts and Archie Lee back then. Knew Dwight Knight really well too. My grandfathers camp was close to the lake in California Swamp.

Sydney Mills was President of Crane Bay back in 1991-1994 when I hunted in there.

Adena Springs. I used to hunt some Stronach land but the drive is too long. I’m at the point where if I can’t be in the stand 30 minutes from home I’m not interested, unless I also have a private camp.

I believe that was Dwight Knights place at one point. Him and my grandfather were really good friends when I was hunting up there. He was out club president. That man killed a lot of deer every year.

(dogs didn't run Axis much, they did kill some nise whitetails though) been a private club several years now, was invited to join but too far for me with time schedule to do. Californa Creek Hunting Club, they're having some issues with the lease and they had some with FWC on the farm raised deer.
