do any of these give you first dibs on a area on public land if you put them out a month before opening day.

Trash in the woods I take out with me, including flagging tape put out by other hunters. Sorry about your luck Chuck if I pull your tape. My favorite is the ones marked "one hunter 400 yds north". Hope you don't get lost, I never have.

Flagging tape is a pet peeve. I used to check the flagged areas, mark them on OnX, and cut down the tape. Not to spite anyone but because it's just trash in addition to an eye sore

area i have hunted and have had good luck along with 2 friends who i let hunt the tree just so they might see something, both killed bucks. i have killed 2 bucks and a hog all outa the same pine tree. 4 bucks and 2 hogs killed from this tree. anyway my buddy got the gen gun permit in redraws starts nov.4th. yesterday i carried, CARRIED a 12 ft ladder stand 1.4 miles to that tree, set it up, trimmed one little limb in the way and climbed up , beautiful spot, fresh large deer tracks 50 yds in front of me along fenceline, muddy fresh hog rooting 40 yds behind me in a drainage ditch. then i spotted it , only 20 yds away from tree i set stand up in , the dreaded cell cam. oops, well it was just about dark and i was not gonna move the stand and i know without a doubt i walked past camera 5 times . guess if i show up and someones up in a tree i have several other options or if guys like me he has cameras in several different locations and seen me in blue jeans and t shirt with tree stand on my shoulders and he decides to go to another spot. if i had never hunted this spot before i 100% would have moved but these days guys put out cameras at several spots , flag tape spots and never hunt the area anyway. well if he gets there before me i will wish him luck and move on, grab my stand around noon and move it to another spot .

I flag the entrance to the WMA. Everyone else needs to stay out and not cross that “line of demarcation”. Tighten up pilgrims…

Hope you don't get lost, I never have. I’m surprised with the technology we have people still use flagging tape. I usually walk out with a hand full of old tape during small game people leave behind. If you’re still using tape it should be removed after each hunt. I see tape as trash as well. Buy a compass and print out a map.

10-4 Stumpy. Picked up spent Thermocell pads and a handful of AA batteries at a common parking spot where we hunt. I don’t understand why folks trash these areas…

Nope.
However, I also think it's a dbag move to touch other people's stuff, including fresh tape. Get off your high horse, it's biodegradable.

I must have missed the memo, or the biodegradable sticker on the side of the packaging. I’m not looking for an argument however when did plastic/vinyl become biodegradable? Almost everything’s biodegradable but at the cost of time, somethings take weeks other millions of years. We should focus more on what’s important. In my opinion we should protect our resources, keep it clean. Now I understand opinions are like a$$holes and everyone has one. Just thought id share

Back when Louann and I hunted Twelve Mile Swamp, a FWC SUA, the flagging got out of hand the 3rd year we were in there. It was one of those areas where you were not allowed in until 2 weeks before bow season and had to have everything out by a week after the close of turkey season.
Second year in there, on the afternoon of the very first day you could scout we noted a number of new flags with just the date on them and initials. To this day don't know who it was. He'd marked 3-4 spots. We thought that was a little overboard but ignored it, especially as they were spots we had no interest in.
The next year.....same thing......but I guess it had worked so well for him that this time he must have had a 8-10 spots with his flags on them by the time we got off work on the first scouting day and got out there. And this time he had places we'd hunted the lat couple of year marked.
First inclination was to simply take them down. But.....as messing with other folks stuff, even their flagging was something I'd been taught not to do a LONG time ago we had to come up with another solution.
Louann, who is naturally a little sneaky, suggested that we simply add flags to the spots, but do it with a twist. Ended up adding flags to every one of his spots we could find.
But, there was a twist.......at every spot we set out at least two new flags with the current year date on them and on all the flags we used made up initials.
No idea how frustrated he must have been to find every spot marked by at least 2 new folks.
